CityPlace District Announces Exciting Schedule Of Events In May

Live music, cultural experiences, and a new wellness series are included in the line-up

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla (April 24, 2018) – As part of the continued reimagination of the CityPlace district, a series of exciting events and initiatives will transform the entertainment and retail destination into a vibrant downtown neighborhood with an array of wellness, cultural and entertainment experiences. This month, the CityPlace district is pleased to kick off their summer series programming, which will run through August. Programming includes Wellness Wednesdays, TGIFamily held the second Friday of each month, and live music on Fridays and Saturdays, including Southern Sounds the third Friday of every month. Wellness Wednesday: Pose for a Purpose

May 2; 7:30 – 9 p.m.

Imagine a yoga experience all of your own, yet jointly linked together with others around you through the transmission of sound. With the use of special LED headset technology, Jennifer Martin has creatively curated Yoga SoundXperience, a Vinyasa yoga class with the music mix of DJ Adam Lipson. The experience will leave you feeling the perfect balance of energy and introspection. The “Pose for a Purpose” classes will also be held on June 6, July 11 and August 1 as part of the Wellness Wednesday series and will benefit various local charities. Palm Beach Symphony in the Square

May 5; 1 –2 p.m.

Have you ever imagined standing at the conductor’s podium and leading a group of professional musicians? Imagine no more! Step on up and try your hand at conducting a Palm Beach Symphony ensemble by the fountains in the CityPlace district.

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

May 5; 6 – 11 p.m.

Join MOJITO Latin Cuisine and Bar for a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on the CityPlace Square. The theme of the evening is Night of the Dead with a Mariachi twist and will feature live music, dancers, Flor De Mirabal cigars and painting by contemporary-pop artist Gregory Christakis. A full bar will be offered, featuring MOJITO’s strawberry daiquiri served in a fresh coconut, as well as $4 tacos (grass-fed beef, organic chicken, shrimp or wild mushroom) and empanadas (grass-fed beef, organic chicken, serrano ham and manchego cheese). Walking Art Tour

Explore Downtown West Palm Beach and its awe-inspiring art installations and murals created by artists from around the globe on this 90-minute guided walking tour. Learn the intention and meaning of various murals and installations while gaining a better understanding of the artists who created them. We will end the tour with refreshments and appetizers at Hilton West Palm Beach, an AAA Four Star Hotel at the genesis of the art and cultural movement with over 1,000 pieces of art in collection. The Kretzer Piano Music Foundation’s MUSIC FOR THE MIND

The Kretzer Piano Music Foundation’s popular MUSIC FOR THE MIND concert series returns to the Harriet Himmel Theatre with Faith’s Place Center for Education in concert. Faith’s Place is an after-school arts enrichment program for students from kindergarten through 12th grade, and numbers just under a hundred children. The concert will feature piano, violin, brass and woodwind, dance, steel drums and a drum line. All proceeds from the concert will go toward purchasing brass and woodwind instruments for the band. Armory Art Center Experience

The Armory Art Center Experience offers demonstrations of techniques taught in art classes for adults, hands-on workshops for children and ongoing faculty exhibitions on display. The Armory Art Center Experience will feature artists Anthony Burks and Hillary Putnam through May 13th. Renowned visual artist and Armory instructor, Anthony Burks will exhibit his large-scale hyper realistic drawings in colored pencil and graphite. He will also be showing and selling his original artwork on his line of printed scarves and cigar boxes. Hillary Putnam, an accomplished designer and Armory student, will exhibit her ceramic vessel and bowl collections that feature unique woven constructions and glazing techniques that are both decorative and functional at accessible prices.
