CityPlace Neighborhood Announces Exciting Schedule Of Events In September

Cultural, wellness and entertainment experiences are included in the line-up

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla (August 28, 2018) – As part of the continued reimagination of CityPlace, a series of exciting events and initiatives will transform the entertainment and retail destination into a vibrant downtown neighborhood with an array of wellness, cultural and entertainment experiences. During the month of September, the CityPlace neighborhood is excited to announce its upcoming community initiatives including its Hunger Action Month Food & Fun(d) Campaign to benefit Feeding South Florida, as well as its continued entertainment programming such as Wellness Wednesdays, TGIFamily, which is now held the first Friday of each month, and live music on Fridays and Saturdays, including Southern Sounds on the third Friday of every month. Hunger Action Month – Food & Fun(d) Campaign
September 1 – 30

In recognition of Hunger Action Month, a nationwide initiative created by Feeding America during the month of September, the CityPlace neighborhood has announced its Food & Fun(d) Campaign to benefit Feeding South Florida. As part of the campaign, which will run until September 30, participating restaurants in CityPlace will donate $1 of sales from a top-selling menu item directly back to Feeding South Florida. Feeding South Florida Food Drive

Feeding South Florida Food Drive at CityPlace brings residents together in support of its community.  Through the end of September, CityPlace visitors who donate three non-perishable food items at Guest Services will receive a free parking voucher valid for four complimentary hours of parking in one of the CityPlace garages. Urban Youth Impact Pop Up
September 1; Hours Vary

CityPlace welcomes back local non-profit, Urban Youth Impact. The artisans shop creates opportunity for youth to be a part of transforming their own community through social enterprise and will feature student artwork, drum performances and freestyle painting. West Palm Beach Police Athletic League’s Bragging Rights Breakdance Competition
September 2; 5 – 10 p.m.

This Labor Day weekend, the West Palm Beach Police Athletic League (PAL) and West Palm Beach Police Department are hosting the second edition of Bragging Rights, a can’t-miss breakdancing competition. Hosted by Will Styles, the event includes $1,000 in cash and prizes and music by DJ Chief. Dancers have a chance to win in three different categories, including 1 vs. 1 Peewee BBoy Battle, 2 vs. 2 Bboy Battle and the All Styles Battle 2 vs. 2. For more information, please visit

City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill’s Bourbon & Bites

TGIFamily: Food and Fun(d)
September 7; 5:30 – 10:30 p.m.

The TGIFamily series is back this month with “TGIFamily: Food and Fun(d),” inviting the entire family to the CityPlace Square for free entertainment and activities in recognition of Hunger Action Month, a nationwide initiative created by Feeding America. The night will include food samplings by participating restaurants, the Feeding South Florida team and additional vendors including Capital One, Palm Beach Farmyards, Balloonmasterz Entertainment, Inc. and more. Wellness Wednesday: CrossFit Squad
September 12; 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Led by CrossFit Squad owner and head coach, Derek Bishop, each class will begin with a thorough warm up focusing on an increased heart rate and targeting muscles that will be used in the workout following. Movements in the class will vary but staples include: squats, lunges, burpees, pushups, and more. Careful instruction and as needed modification make this intense class attainable to each individual. African Diaspora Exhibition
September 13 – 22

ATB Fine Artists & Designers LLC is bringing Collaboration: African Diaspora Exhibition IV to CityPlace. The exhibition will highlight 38 different artists and reflect an African Diaspora, historically known as the movement of Africans and their descendants to places throughout the world – predominantly to the Americas. Throughout the 10 day event, there will be unique art, music, literature and food experiences showcasing the diversity of the diaspora.

On Wednesday, September 12 from 4 – 6 p.m. ATB Fine Artists & Designers LLC will host a preview event. Guests are invited to preview the culture and beauty of the exhibition while enjoying happy hour food, drink and art demonstrations by Chef Boris Seymore of B.D.S Catering & Productions and artist/curator Anthony Burks Sr. A free public opening event for the exhibition will also be held on September 13 from 7 – 10 p.m., which will include a ticketed VIP food tasting. The Kretzer Piano Music Foundation’s MUSIC FOR THE MIND
September 18; 7 p.m.

The Kretzer Piano Music Foundation’s popular MUSIC FOR THE MIND concert series returns to the Harriet Himmel Theatre with a benefit concert on behalf of longtime local piano tuner Erick Sanchez and his family. The evening will include a performance by YAMAHA artist Dr. Robin Arrigo, an adjunct professor of piano/staff accompanist at Palm Beach Atlantic University and artist resident for King’s Conservatory of the Arts. Members of the multi-talented musical group, The Kretzer Kids will also be performing. Proceeds from the concert will be split between Erick Sanchez and Kretzer Music Foundation scholarships for children. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Walking Art Tour

Every Friday and Sunday; 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Residents and visitors alike are invited to explore Downtown West Palm Beach and its awe-inspiring art installations and murals created by artists from around the globe on this 120-minute guided walking tour. Learn the intention and meaning of various murals and installations while gaining a better understanding of the artists who created them. The tour ends with refreshments and appetizers at Hilton West Palm Beach, an AAA Four Star Hotel at the genesis of the art and cultural movement with over 1,000 pieces of art in collection. ASSEMBLAGE: An Organically Grown Exhibition is a year-long visual art project on the first floor of the Culture Lab, the former Macy’s storefront-turned-immersive-arts-experience in the CityPlace neighborhood. ASSEMBLAGE currently features works by artists Olek (Poland), Ivan Navarro (Chile/ New York), Ioanna Pantazopoulou (New York/Athens), Jennifer Steinkamp (Los Angeles) and local artists Amy Gross, Sarah Knouse and Phillip Estlund.
