Related Companies Partners With West Palm Beach Police Athletic League To Bring Back Summer Programming To Area Youth
The partnership brings together health and wellness activities, career training, art and cultural events, and family-friendly fun for the program’s young participants to enjoy all summer long
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla (June 1, 2018) – In a coordinated effort to keep neighborhood youth safe and active during the summer months, Related Companies has partnered with the West Palm Beach Police Athletic League (PAL) for the second year in a row to offer events and programming throughout the CityPlace neighborhood.
PAL is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the self-confidence, social, physical, and emotional needs of children through sport activities and Related Companies has again underwritten the summer program with an $8,000 sponsorship, as well as summer-long programming support. In addition, the company sponsored PAL’s second annual Ballroom Blitz this spring with a $10,000 contribution to benefit the PAL Teen Club. The program provides field trips such as deep-sea fishing, surfing classes, waterparks, Miami Marlins baseball games, as well as catered meals that are served each day, and food for PAL’s Amazing Chef cooking classes.
“Our PAL partnership is really important to us – not only because they are one of our closest neighbors here at CityPlace, but also because the program is made up of a truly fantastic group of enthusiastic and inspiring kids,” said Gopal Rajegowda, Senior Vice President of Related Companies. “As we bring the partnership back this year with additional programming and participants, we are looking forward to another successful summer.”
PAL kids and teenagers will enjoy Related Companies programming through a host of events and activities taking place in the CityPlace neighborhood in the upcoming months. Groups of PAL kids and teens will take part in as well as TGIFamily events which are held the second Friday of each month on the CityPlace Square and bring together family-friendly activities and live entertainment. Wellness Wednesdays fitness classes such as Total Movement with Erika Strimer and Zumba and Body Combat classes by Fitness Hub,
PAL kids and teens who are interested in culinary arts will have the opportunity to participate in the Aspiring Culinary Career Program. This program will offer young adults within the PAL program the opportunity to tour restaurants throughout the CityPlace neighborhood for a behind-the-scenes look and first-hand insight from top restauranteurs, chefs and members of the restaurants’ management team.
The West Palm Beach PAL and the City of West Palm Beach Police Department will also host their second annual Bragging Rights breakdancing competition in the CityPlace Square on Sunday, September 2nd. This culminating summer event with PAL at CityPlace aims to bring positive attention to the world of hip hop and dancing.
PAL has already been active this season throughout the CityPlace neighborhood through its partnership with Related Companies. Last month, PAL participants volunteered to help paint the Steed Taylor public art installation known as a ‘Road Tattoo.’ Approximately 20 young adults from PAL also attended the 4th Annual CityPlace Job Fair at the Harriet Himmel Theater to explore career opportunities in a variety of positions among area employers.
