Ways to Give Back in Downtown West Palm Beach This Holiday Season

The holidays are a time for family and togetherness. They are also a time that can remind us to be grateful for all that we have, making the holidays the perfect time to give back to the community. So many people have less money and fewer resources than us, and we can help bring a little holiday cheer to their lives this year. Check out some of the ways you can give back in West Palm Beach below.

United Way Toy Drive

CityPlace of Palm Beach CountyUnited Way of Palm Beach County is collecting donations for their toy drive now through Friday, December 7th. You can, of course, bring any toys that you think would be appropriate for kids ages 0-18 to the toy drive. However, if you aren’t sure what kids are into these days or what would be best, United Way also has suggestions for each age range.

  • 0-4: books, developmental toys, and trikes.
  • 5-10: stuffed animals, trucks, cars, bikes, books, developmental toys, and superhero-themed toys.
  • 11-18: beauty supplies, costume jewelry, books, craft supplies, gift cards, soccer balls, skateboards, and technology.

On December 7th, you and your family can give back to this area by bringing toy donations to the TGIFamily Friday event from 6 pm to 8 pm on the CityPlace square. You can also contact NubiaOrtega@UnitedWayPBC.org for pick up and drop off arrangements.

Additionally, if you are looking for a volunteer opportunity this holiday season, United Way of Palm Beach County is looking for helpers to sort toys. If you are interested in lending a helping hand, you can participate in the toy drive on December 8th from 9 am to 12 pm or 1 pm to 4 pm. Click here to learn more.

Feeding South Florida

Another way to give back this holiday season is by donating to Feeding South Florida. Feeding South Florida is a non-profit organization that works to provide hunger relief to those lacking food in this area. With Feeding South Florida, over 98% of the donations made are put right back into the community. Feeding South Florida provides food to those in need, but they also work to provide innovative programming and education to help people even more.

If you would like to help out this non-profit, you can donate food items, money, or even your time. There are multiple opportunities for you to volunteer and donate to help those in need in South Florida. It doesn’t take a lot of time or money to make a difference here. With just a $1 donation, Feeding South Florida can provide six meals to those in need.

As you can see, there are a lot of different ways to give back to those in need over the holiday season. At CityPlace, we love to host these events to help give you the opportunity to give back to this wonderful community. Reach out to us if you have a charitable event that you think we should support.
